Earthen Dam Damaged during IDA: As most of you already know the Earthen Dam suffered some damage on September 1st. Part of the toe side of the dam eroded. We had to enact the Emergency Action Plan we have in place. This is to protect anybody downstream in case of a breach. Luckily the dam did not breach. DEP and our engineer were here the next morning to inspect the dam. They came back on September 7th to configure a repair plan. We were instructed by DEP that the emergency repairs were to be completed within 30 days. Our engineer has completed the drawings for the repair and will submit them to DEP for approval. We are currently waiting on two companies to give us a bid on doing the work. We were required by DEP to draw the lake down by two feet to take pressure off the dam and to prepare for the repair. We want everyone to understand that DEP is also requiring us to keep the water level down until we can complete the permanent repairs to all three dams. Our engineer had already started completing the studies needed for the permanent work required by DEP. At this time we are approximately 16 to 24 months away from completion. We are looking into emergency disaster relief for the temporary repairs. We are also looking into low interest loan options for the permanent work required by DEP. We will update as more information comes in.
Go Fund Me page: We will be starting a Go Fund Me page to start raising money for the required work on the three dams. We will need those monies along with a loan in order to complete the work. More info to come!
I live on a private lake in Delaware County and we (our HOA) are in negotiations with the DEP regarding our EAP. Do you have an attorney representing you, and if so, would you kindly provide his or her name and contact information? Many thanks
We have an attorney but he has not been helping us with DEP and he did not help us with our EAP.
